Walking tours in the National Park of the Sibillini Mountains.
High lights are the various natural and historical spots, like the Gorge of Fiastrone with the hide-out of the Franciscan brothers, the Natural Reserve of the Abbey of Fiastra and the plateau of Castelluccio of Norcia. The most spectacular cape of Le Marche that interrupts the Adriatic coastline is the Conero area. The Natural Park of the Conero has beautiful back-roads leading always to the sea, like the walk to the two reefs called 'Due Sorelle' (Two Sisters). A perfect occassion to have a break and spend some hours at the most beautiful beaches of Le Marche.
Lake Pilato and the Gorge of Infernaccio
A place of antique legends and magic rites, Lake Pilato and the Gorge of Infernaccio offer evocative landscapes with mountain-tops that reach up to 2476 meters (mount Vettore). Rigorous walking tours for people with walking experience. In past times magicians and riders wandered to “The Gola dell’Infernaccio” (the Gorge of Hell) which they reached after exhausting journeys from all over Europe, with the hope to get advise from the Sibylle oracle. "Here stay the devils, and they give answer to the ones that question them” wrote Leandro Alberti (1557). Goethe solved the mystery in the 4th act of Faust: "The forces of these mountains are strong; here nature works freely with excessive power; it is the stupidity of the priests condemning that as witchcraft”. Today these mountains offer just an occasion to meditate upon the greatness of Nature.
Natural Park of the Red Gorge and the caves of Frasassi
Rocky gorges with a Mediterranean flora, rich in water, rare plants and small backroads that lead to the mountain-tops of Mount Murano and Mount Revellone. These are rigorous walking tours for people with walking experience. It includes a visit to the stalactitic caves of Frasassi, the biggest stalactitic caves of Europe. One of it's underground halls is so enormous that it can house the cathedral of Milan.
