Caravanserraglio begins where the road ends.

 

It is situated on the top of a hill that is surrounded by the forest of the National Park of the Sibillini Mountains. It is an ideal place for long walks far away from civilization. Next to that there are nearby villages and cities of artistic and cultural importance that are easy to reach by car. At a distance of only two kilometres lies Serrapetrona, a small mountain village that is famed for it’s wine (Vernaccia), for its pure and healthy water and clean air.  At ten kilometres of distance are Tolentino, San Severino and Camerino, small cities that were mainly built during the Rennaissance. Macerata, the capital of the province, is twenty minutes by car. There is the Arena Sferisterio where music concerts, operas, and ballets are performed by Italian and foreign artists of international fame. Furthermore at Macerata there’s a big shoe marked on Wednesdays which is worth visiting. In half an hour you can reach the Adriatic sea with it’s beautiful beaches. In the hills along the coast you can take a walk at the Park of the Conero. The cities Assisi, Gubbio and Perugia are about two hours of distance by car. A visit to the holy city Loreto is absolutely to be recommended. For a sensation of the miracles of nature you can’t miss to see Castalluccio di Norcia (a plateau with thousands of flowers in all the colours of the rainbow) and the stalactitic caves of Frassasi.

By foot or by mountain bike you can nevertheless reach places of fascinating beauty. We have some mountainbikes available.

 

The Journey to Italy
 

By Air

The cheapest way to fly is from London to Ancona Falconara with Ryanair. It takes 1 hour to reach the Caravanserraglio agriturismo from Ancona Airport (see By Cay point 2-3). Ancona Airport has national and international flights from Rome, Milan, München, Paris etc. You can rent a car and pick it up at the Ancona Airport. Website Ancona-Airport

There're cheap flights also on Rome and Milan. The airport of Rome is about three hours driving from the Caravanserraglio Agriturismo.

You can also fly on Bologna, Rimini or Forli. About 2 hours driving from the Caravanserraglio agriturismo.

By Car  

1 The fastest way to reach Italy by car is taking the route Germany-Switzerland. At the Swiss border you can pay for the motorway (ca.25,00 euro, valid for 1 year). In Italy you need to pay for the motorway tolls when you leave the motorway (Milan-Caravanserraglio ca.25,00 euro). When you have arrived in Italy follow Milan and after that Bologna. From Bologna take Autostrada Adriatica A14 direction Ancona/Bari/Pescara.

2 At the Autostrada Adriatica A14 direction Bari/Pescara take the exit Civitanova Marche. Then take the Superstrada direction Macerata-Foligno; exit Tolentino Ovest.

3 At the exit turn right, after ca. 100 metres another right, following the indication Serrapetrona. Before reaching the village of Serrapetrona (after about ten minutes) there’s a crossing of three roads. About 20 metres before the crossing , to the left, there’s a small road with a sign-board of Caravanserraglio. Welcome!

Coming from Rome: Take the A1 direction Perugia Foligno. After that the Strada Statale 77 of Colfiorito. Exit Tolentino Ovest. See point 3 above.

 

By Train

The nearest big railway station is at Civitanova Marche. There's a direct train connection Milan-Civitanova Marche. From Civitanova Marche you can take the train to Tolentino. Call us when you have arrived at the station of Tolentino, we will come to pick you up. Look for the timetable at the website: www.trenitalia.it.  

 

Rent a Car

To be able to move freely in the area it is a must to have a car. At most airports you can directly pick up a rental car. For information and on-line bookings you can visit the websites of: AVIS , HERTZ and NATIONAL MAGGIORE.
